Research Specialist in Proteomics @ Georgetown University
Georgetown University School of Medicine is seeking a Research Specialist to perform proteomics services and apply cutting-edge proteomic techniques for basic and translational biomedical research. The candidate will work in a proteomics core lab, Georgetown University Medical Center. The candidate is expected to help maintain the state-of-the-art mass spectrometry instruments and play a key role in strengthening the method development for protein/peptide analysis, especially on PTM-omics (including glycoproteomics). The candidate will have plenty of opportunities to collaborate with scientists of very diverse background (including physicians) on campus, neighbor institutions (including NIH/FDA) and pharmaceutical companies in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced nanoUHPLC-MS/MS platforms
2. Develop analytical methods for the qualitative and quantitative proteomics/peptidomics
Requirements:
1. Master degree in Analytical Chemistry or related filed, PhD will be preferred.
2. Strong hands-on skills handling high resolution mass spectrometers from Thermo (e.g., Orbitrap Lumos) and Sciex (e.g., TripleTOF 5600/6600, Q-TRAP 6500)
3. Extensive hands-on experience in proteomic workflows (including sample prep., data acquisition, and
data analysis), especially for PTM-omics
4. Enriched experience with isotopic labeling and label-free proteomic quantification methods
5. Familiar with software and bioinformatic tools for proteomic data analysis
6. Good communication and English-writing skills
7. Highly motivated and self-driven with the flexibility to quickly adapt to different projects
