Event: CASMS trustee and board members teleconference

Suggestions regarding to CASMS website: 

· Zezong summarized CASMS website visiting records. We have hundreds of new visitors to CASMS website, it is very encouraging. A brief summary of visiting records can be posted on the website.

· Please provide the link information for Sigma, a sponsor who requested to be linked with CASMS website to Zezong and Rong so that the link could be posted.

· Xianlin suggested candidates for the forum leaders. Forums may cover topics for proteomics, small molecules, pharmaceutical industry and chemical industry. Forum leaders could be board members. Other experts such as Drs. Liang Li, Zheng Ouyang, and Yinsheng Wang may need invitation letters from Jianjun. Liang Li on Proteomics; Han Xianlin, lipoteomics/metabolics; Yinsheng Wang, nucleotide; Karen Wang/Huayi Tong, pharmacokinetics and related; and Shida Shen/Ouyang Zheng, Instrumentation.

Suggestions regarding to the CASMS annual meeting and Tuesday dinner in SLC:

· Two buses may be needed to transport people from Convention Center to the restaurant. Menu may need to be re-negotiated.

· Volunteers for Salt Lake City Tuesday dinner: Lingjun’s students may not be enough. Lingjun suggested that she will contact Yinsheng for help since he also has many Chinese students. CASMS T-shirts from last year may be reused this year; 20 t-shirts may be needed.

· Lingjun and Karen will be in charge of the workshop. The workshop format may be one main section with a group of panelists followed by round-table discussions. Questions such as how to find a post-doc job from academic and how to find an industry job may be very interesting to the job-seekers. Our board members and outsiders who have the hiring experience will be invited to be the panelists. Current job market is very tough! Yingying and Huayi shared experience from their roles as hiring managers. It is suggested that quality & attitude are very important for the job-seekers. Job-seekers may need mind-set training so that they can be well-prepared for job interview. Candidates need to be pro-active and hard-working. It is also suggested that workshop attendants’ background may be evaluated – are they looking for industry job or academic job? Is this his/her first job or the candidate is looking for career change or advancement? This information may help to organize the workshop.

· Dr. Zhaogui Liu, President of Jiangsu Skyray Instrument LTD, may be invited as a speaker in Tuesday night dinner and meeting.

· On-line payment is not an option. A table leader will be chosen to collect money for Tuesday night dinner.  

 Suggestions regarding to the 3rd WCMSC meeting in Changchun:

· Delegates: David Huang’s poster has not confirmed yet. Jianjun agreed to be the plenary lecture speaker. It is suggested that every delegate should prepare a technical presentation. Therefore, 4 to 5 more posters may be selected. Lingjun and Xianlin will be responsible to select more abstracts for the posters. All abstracts may need unified format.

· Fund-raising in China and abroad: more sponsor companies may be contacted for sponsoring the 3rd WCMSC meeting in Changchun. Rong volunteered to contact Chinese Consulate General in New York for funding.
